OTHER LOCAL NEWS - Great Valley Community Organization
Did you know that the Great Valley Community Organization (GVCO) provides recreation, volunteering, and educational services to Willistown residents? From basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and team up gym for special needs kids, to the discover program transitioning autistic kids to work, the center supports many community needs. In 2025 GVCO provided volunteer opportunities for 140 Great Valley students, as well as an internship program, walking program, and computer literacy and security program. The center is funded through program fees, donations, grants, and support from the municipalities it serves. This year a generous benefactor named Joseph Heenan offered a matching donation of $100,000 if Willistown would agree to increase their support to $200,000. Thank you, Joseph Heenan!
SIDEWALK FACTS - Home Insurance Rates and Sidewalks
· A sidewalk in front of your house does not directly increase your property insurance rate. In fact, it may have a neutral to positive effect on your insurance rate.
· New sidewalks can signal a well-cared-for property, which insurers view positively.
· The presence of a sidewalk in front of a home is unlikely to directly impact homeowners’ insurance premiums. Homeowners’ insurance premiums are typically determined by factors such as location, value of the home and its contents, claim history, credit score, age and condition of the home.
· Insurance companies don’t consider the presence of a sidewalk as a direct factor in determining premiums. The sidewalk itself isn’t a separate rating element.
